Across from The Landmark (about 30 seconds) is the Money Bar Restaurant. Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a Starbucks this establishment is a great place to eat, relax, drink, take in the sun, and listen to music. Located about 15 minutes from downtown past the cruise terminal and El Presidente hotel.
The Bar offers fabulous seating with breathtaking views across to Playa Del Carmen and the sunsets are memorable. Beach loungers are offered free of charge for the early birds and access to the ocean is easy. While there is sand, there is no beach per se. Once in the water the bottom is hard pack sand with few rocks or shells to stub your toes on. The water is usually very calm and the snorkeling is excellent. In fact, every morning a number of Fury catamarans are snorkeling with their guests out at the buoy line. If they are there, you know the snorkeling must be good. In February, while swimming at the buoy line, I was surprised by a juvenile spotted eagle ray who hung around for a couple of minutes. I have seen moray eels on the coral heads, turtle, and barracuda as well. I would say this is definitely a kid friendly destination.
Entertainment is offered Thursday thru Sunday nights starting at 5:30 and running till about 9 pm. Geo is the main singer and cover music from American Rock to local Spanish music. Happy hour is 2 for 1 and offered about the same time.
The Money Bar offers a pier for easy pick up for scuba diving or snorkeling activates around the island as well. Outdoor showers are also available free of charge to rinse off after relaxing in the ocean.
